As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately.

The Lessons From Jericho:

The Lesson From the Crowd

The wide gate and the narrow gate apply here.
People are very good at hatred.
Yes, the majority may rule, but the majority is often wrong.
The Jewish leaders were not the only ones with issues.
People can sense when someone is different.
People can sense when someone is different.
Be thick-skinned.
Grieve, but don’t give up.

The Zacchaeus Lesson

Anyone is eligible for redemption.
No sin is too big for God.
People can sense when something is different.
People respond to grace.
Be accessible.
If you are a Zacchaeus - climb a tree.

The Jesus Lesson

Come

Jesus was on His way to the biggest appointment in His life.
Jericho was opportunity.
3. Accessibility requires movement.

Stay

Be aware of divine appointments.
Be aware.
Be relational.
Be open.
Be available.
Be a change agent - Zacchaeus changed!
Be thick-skinned.

Go

There’s a job to do, so do it.
Keep an eye on the big picture.
